Only once in a blue moon does a game come along that is fun to play alone or with your friends. Territory WAR by Afro-Ninja Productions is no doubt this game. Whether you’re going to play campaign mode, challenges mode, or custom battle mode, Territory WAR covers all spectrums in style.

The first mode of the game that should probably be played is campaign mode. Campaign mode contains 10 missions, which you must unlock by beating each consecutive mission. The difficulty of campaign mode is good because it starts out easy enough for the novice player to learn the controls and basic game play concepts, but gets much harder as the game progresses. As you progress through levels, you play on different maps and your odds decrease as the enemy’s team player count increases.

My favorite mode in the game is custom battle. While custom battle allows you to play the computer, its real beauty is the player vs. player option. Player vs. player allows two people at the same computer to compete against each other on the game maps from campaign mode. Some need to be unlocked before you can use them in player vs. player mode. In my view this is the best feature of Territory WAR. With some friends in the room you can have a really exciting tournament. But be careful, it can get really competitive :)

The last mode is challenges mode. Challenges mode allows you to play mini type games using the regular game play. These mini games range from tossing a grenade through a ring to shooting targets. All 6 mini games are timed. Once you complete all of them, you can compete with the rest of the world by using the online high score board.

The graphics are just what they need to be, simple yet very effective for this type of genre. The wide assortment of maps provides campaign mode with a good amount of replay value. The game play is what makes Territory WAR stand out. One of the strongest points is the all-keyboard control aspect within the game. You can easily perform all tasks you need to during the game just by using the keyboard. The sound effects in the game are well done. The music is pretty good, but does get very repetitive.

While the game is outstanding, it contains a few minor flaws. The first one I noticed after playing for a long time was some very slight problems with the AI. On rare occasions a computer player would throw a grenade at no one or the opposite way of one of my players. Although minuscule on the scale of the entire game, it makes you feel a little bad winning like that (when the computer should probably have easily killed you). One other thing I would have loved to see was a 3 human player mode. Although implementation might have been difficult, it would have made playing with friends even more fun.

The bottom line is Territory WAR is way above and beyond any other game in the genre. Its intuitive game play can keep you captivated for huge periods of time, while always having replay value because of its player vs. player option.

Territory Wars. Incredible game, but I saw a bit of a flaw in your review. You gave the graphics a 9.0. What? They were stick figures. Backgrounds had some class, but it was limited. The real catch-ons were sound and gameplay. You gave sound a mediocre score? Why? Sound deserves so much better. He took some of the best songs from some of the best musicians on Newgrounds and stuck them flawlessly together. 10 overall is true.
