Don’t Shoot the Puppy is one of those games that is carried on its humor factor alone. That doesn’t stop me from getting a little bit of enjoyment out of it though. That’s what is great about the flash medium- anyone is free to create whatever they want, without any real concerns. Quirky humor games are what 5Rs is known for and this one doesn’t deviate.

The concept for this game is incredibly simple. Don’t shoot the damn puppy. Unfortunately, shooting the puppy is as easy as moving your mouse. Move it even a fraction of a pixel and your puppy is toasted. It’s really just a game to test your patience and see how much it can piss you off, but you can’t help but stick around and see how the next level will torture you. Even though you understand the concept each level tries desperately hard to convince you otherwise. If you can master the art of not moving your mouse then you’ll have this game beat, but you’d better either find something to do in the meantime or get familiar with how to navigate everywhere with the keyboard.

The graphics are simple, there’s no background, and no sound. Does this game really need it though? The graphics that are there have a nice clean style and that’s about all you’re going to get. You can’t judge this game on presentation or gameplay either cause... there really isn’t any. You’re either going to close this game out immediately and label it stupid, or resolve yourself to making it through all 15 levels of non-puppy-shooting action. Send it to your pals and tell them there’s an awesome surprise at the end.
