Cubefield

Challenging but lacks |

Cube field takes what could be a boring and repetitive minigame and actually adds a bit of depth to it. You move your little triangle back and forth (or rather, the screen back and forth) to dodge incoming cubes. Touch just one and it’s over.
At first it just seems like the game will generate random cube placements forever. After you progress a little though you’ll see that you encounter a sort of ‘separator’ between areas, where you must navigate through a pre-made pattern of cubes before going to the next level. Well, there aren’t levels in the game but each time you pass one of these areas your speed will increase and the way the cubes/background is drawn changes. Just the kind of twist that makes you want to play again and see what’s coming next
The 3-d rendering of the cubes really does add something to the game, because if this were done completely 2-d with no screen movement it just wouldn’t have the same appeal. Unfortunately though what appeal is there fades quick since there are no other mode of play in the game. Personally I think the difficulty ramps too quickly when you hit the black area, since the tunnels go from easy to nearly impassible. No sound and simple graphics, but it’s worth a few minutes of your time.
