Indestructo Tank puts a spin on the classic action minigame formula by giving you a vehicle that is indestructible. Instead of firing weapons at enemies, you actually have to drive head-on into their fire.

In Indestructo Tank your goal is to kill enemies, but you don’t have any ammunition to do so with. Instead, you simply slam your tank into them. The problem is, most of the enemies are airborne. Luckily, their bombs will send you sky-high. So once you hit the air, aim for the enemy planes and then continue to crash into as many as you can before hitting the ground. It’s a nice combo system, and it’s pretty fun to play. Combos are always a highlight of any game- the underlying challenge. So why not make combos the focus of the game? With better combos you get more experience points, and with more points you go to higher levels. However, your gas is running out the entire time- so if you don’t keep the combos coming, your tank is gonna explode. Yes that’s right, your indestructible tank explodes when you run out of gas. Don’t ask. Each time you advance levels you can spend your experience points to buy more enemies, some of which do different things. You heard it, a game where you actually buy more enemies to fight.

Graphics are mediocre, with most of them being filled in with real textures. I think it looks a little out of place at times, but it gets the job done. There are five enemy types but only one background that loops continuously. Some variation in scenery would have been nice. Other than that you get an upbeat music loop to go with the game. You can’t turn it off, but honestly I never became annoyed by it.

As expected you can play for high scores, which is practically required of flash games like these nowadays. The game also tracks a few stats for you, like highest jump and best combo. This game has a very addictive quality to it- pretty soon you’ll have tons of enemies filling up the screen, getting a small rush as your combo builds up into the twenties. My only complaint about the combo/fuel system is that even if you’re in the middle of a huge combo and you run out of gas, you still die because combos aren’t counted up until you hit the ground. I can live with it though, as it’s just an incentive to work quicker. This is one of those games that just begs for an enhanced sequel.
